Shoah and Nazism

"Shoah" indicates the genocide of the Jewish population and culture perpetrated from 1935 to 1945 in Germany and the countries of the Axis Alliance during WWII, following the racist anti-Semitic ideology preached by Adolf Hitler. In this context, some people tried to save the Jews by hiding them, helping them emigrate with false documents, feeding them, or giving them a job. Because they saw them suffering, they helped them in some way instead of remaining indifferent.

There were even people who put their own life at risk to see what was happening in the Nazi concentration camps, where Jews were deported, and testify irrefutably, against the Nazis' plan to conceal the evidence of extermination.

In the 1950s, the State of Israel created Yad Vashem, a memorial mausoleum in Jerusalem, to remember the victims of the "final solution". Then, in the early 1960s, Yad Vashem established the Commission for the Designation of the Righteous to assign the title of "Righteous among the Nations" to those non-Jews who, during the years of Nazi persecution, saved Jews.

There are still many stories that are still little known or even unknown. Here, we report those found by Gariwo and reported by our users.
