Parliamentary activity suspended

After the "million people march" judicial decision is expected on the legislative elections of November, challenged by the opposition. The army invites demonstrators to go back home and Internet connections were partially restored.

Former intelligence chief Omar Suleiman was appointed to manage emergency, but the protest doesn't subside. General strike despite the daytime curfew. The army vows not to use the force against demonstrators. YouTube success of the video of a little girl who claims the right of vote for her people. The opponents tell the BBC that they have not taken to the square for a government reshuffle, but "a true democracy, against Mubarak presidency and its corruption".

Todate many analists believe elections would present us with the risk of a victory of the Muslim Brotherhood, currently outlawed. By showing up with "independent" candidates this movement conquered one fifth of the parliamentary seats in the 2005 elections.

European Union and the US put pressure for an "orderly" transition whereas Israel, fearing an Iranian scenario, issued a directive to its 12 most important embassies (including those in the US, Russia and China) where it asks to consider the possibility that Mubarak is the best available alternative. Intellectuals increasingly demand change regardless of the fundamentalist threat.

The New York Times devotes a special feature to the movement "where people in their thirties lead people twice their age" and ti its main components: other than Islamists, oltre agli islamisti, lntial mandates, against the Mubarak presidency and its corruption".On the Web the umbrella-organization of Nobel laureate El-Baradei, who now leads the whole opposition, the 6 April Movement and the movement "for change".
