Syrian refugees in Turkey

In front of one of the larger crisis of the last decades, Turkey calls the international community for help, to receive financial assistance and to plan with Western countries the migrants issue.

The war in Syria made millions refugees, escaping in Jordan, Armenia, Lebanon and Turkey. Almost the middle of them lives outside the refugee camps, organized for a temporary emergency and now insufficient and ill-equipped.
The Turkish population is now peeved by migrants, who often live in misery and that are transforming the 17 camps in the country in de facto villages - despite the authorities assure that the Syrian refugees will leave soon from the Turkey.

The war in Syria however goes on, the litigants are accused of using chemical weapons, the humanitarian associations report tortures, life in camps is becoming harder and in the countries that host migrants is growing a feeling anti-refugees, following events as the explosion in Reyhanli.

The Turkish government is preparing itself for the post Assad. Erdogan met in Washington Barack Obama, to discuss about the future of Syria. To maintain the institutions, to enforce the opposition with helmets and night visors, to involve Russia: these the points of the pact between the two heads of State in view of the meeting in Ginevra. This conference is seen as the moment to find a solution to the conflict that, Erdogan assures, will have all the litigants in the negotiations and that, following Obama, will be a “Syria without Assad”.

While Ankara and Washington are talking, however, Mosca is giving Assad Cruiser missiles with advanced radars, showing the strength of the connection with Damascus.

Meanwhile, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted the fifth resolution on Syrian issue since 2011, in which is reiterated the call for a rapid political transition “that represent the best opportunity to resolve the conflict [...] pacifically”.
The resolution then condemns the government of Assad for the use of heavy weapons and the systematic violation of human rights and fundamental freedoms.
